Description
The Universal Steering Column Slip Shaft Kit is an essential upgrade for Early Bronco enthusiasts looking for improved safety and functionality. This collapsible two-piece steering shaft kit replaces the rigid one-piece OEM steering shaft, allowing for enhanced adaptability, especially when integrating aftermarket columns. The engineering behind the design allows the shaft to effectively collapse to a compact 24 inches and extend to a maximum of 36 inches, providing optimal space management and safety in the event of front impact.
Constructed from high-quality nickel-plated materials, this steering shaft is designed for durability and reliability. With a diameter of 1-inch DD combined with a 3/4-inch DD, these shafts ensure that the U-joints fit smoothly without the need for grinding or modification. However, both shafts must be cut to size to allow for 3 inches of travel, accommodating chassis-to-body movement.
When selecting U-joints for installation, please refer to our offer list to ensure you acquire the correct components for your application. It is crucial to verify dimensions and configurations before placing an order, as various boxes, columns, and shafts may interact differently with your Early Bronco. Careful selection will prevent unnecessary return or exchange fees.
Please note that modifications, including cutting, grinding, and drilling, are essential. We recommend removing the factory or aftermarket shaft from the vehicle prior to undertaking any modifications.

Also to my knowledge the engine pulleys crank and water pump pulleys have never been changed since this Bronco has been in the family since 1971 when purchased.
