Residual Valve

$19.95

The Residual Valve is designed to maintain a preset pressure in your brake system, ensuring optimal performance for both disc and drum brakes. It prevents brake fluid from siphoning back into the master cylinder, enhancing pedal response and efficiency.

Description

The Residual Valve serves a critical function in hydraulic brake systems by maintaining necessary pressure levels that enhance brake performance. By holding a predetermined pressure within the brake lines, this valve prevents the backflow of brake fluid into the master cylinder, which can compromise braking effectiveness.

For drum brakes, the presence of return springs can lead to the collapse of the slave cylinder when the pedal is pressed. Without the Residual Valve, this may result in a delay in engagement, leading to inefficient braking. By maintaining a residual pressure of 10 psi, the valve ensures the brake shoes remain in close contact with the drums, delivering immediate braking response upon the first pedal push.

Key specifications:
– 10 psi valve for drum brakes (1 required per axle)
– 2 psi valve for disc brakes (1 required for each wheel)

For specific brake configurations, the following examples illustrate the required valves:
– Disc Front and Drum Rear: 2 x 2 lb. valves, 1 x 10 lb. valve
– Disc Front and Disc Rear: 4 x 2 lb. valves
