FAQ
Q: What year Bronco is this compatible with?
A: This fuel tank will work with ’66-’77 Early Broncos
Q: Is this fuel tank compatible with Carburated Broncos?
A: Yes
Q: Is this fuel tank compatible with EFI Broncos?
A: Yes
Q: Is this system compatible with Diesel Fuel?
A: Yes it is. Due to the various engine requirements, Lick Creek recommends that you select the Carbureted/External Fuel Pump option. This will require some research by the purchaser to provide the correct external pump for your particular engine’s requirements.
Q: Is the sending unit compatible with stock bronco gauges?
A: Yes it is, it is a 10-73ohm unit that works in the range of the factory gauge cluster. Please note that the factory gauges were wound to match the factory tank shape so using them will provide a skewed usage of fuel level but empty and full will be accurate, it is the middle section of the gauge that is wound unevenly for the factory tank shape.
Q: Will this tank work with aftermarket frames?
A: If your frame is built exactly to Early Bronco specifications, yes. We have not personally tested it in any aftermarket frame configurations at this time.
Q: Will the sending unit work with aftermarket gauges?
A: Yes it will so long as they are for 10-73ohm sending units. If your gauge uses a different range, there are options offered by speed shops that will provide the correct signal conversion. If you are using the Dakota Digital series gauges, they are programmable and can be calibrated to make the fuel gauge extremely accurate. Please consult your gauge manual for calibration procedures.
Q: Will this work with James Duff 4-Link Systems?
A: Yes, this tank works with our 4-link with a factory wheelbase.
If you want to move the axle back and extend your rear wheelbase, there are some guidelines you must follow. For a factory 9″ axle you can move the axle back a max of 1.5 inches. For any other axle, we ask that you cycle the axle from full bump to full droop with the fuel tank mocked in place before determining how far the axle can be moved back.
Note: if you are using a Duff 4905 receiver or 4965 stock bumper tire carrier you can only move the tank back about 1/4″ from where it is supposed to be installed.
