The 1978-79 Bronco Heim Joint Steering System is crafted for enthusiasts seeking to enhance their vehicle’s steering capabilities. Made from 1.25″ DOM tubing with a .2815″ wall thickness, this system avoids weld-in inserts, maximizing strength and clearance. Key features include:
– A drag link attached to the tie rod with a saddle, preserving factory geometry and eliminating long spacers that create excessive torque on the passenger side knuckle.
– Misalignment spacers paired with high-quality Teflon-lined 3/4″ rod ends to avoid binding, ensuring full articulation.
– Constructed using GR8 bolts, providing reliable fastening and security.
– Installation requires drilling out knuckles and the pitman arm to 3/4″; however, our new Dana 44 knuckles come pre-machined to this dimension.
– Compatible with both over and under knuckle installations, utilizing the provided hardware for vehicles lifted over 6 inches.
– Each kit includes all-metal lock nuts and cotter pins to secure components.

To ensure compatibility, precise measurements are required:
– Measure from center to center of your knuckles where the tie rod passes through.
– Measure from the center of the pitman arm to the center of the passenger side knuckle.
These measurements account for variations due to lift height, steering box type, and front end/knuckle configuration. Notably, there is substantial adjustment potential with two joints in each linkage.
Please verify local regulations prior to purchase, as some jurisdictions may not permit heim joints in steering systems. This system is not suitable for setups with shocks mounted in front of the C-Cap; ensure shocks are mounted behind the coil.
